Winter Wipeout 2026

February 1 @ 8:00 am - February 28 @ 5:00 pm

WinterWipeout Option1

Litter is more visible during the winter months, making it seem like there is significantly more – on exit ramps, at intersections, in ditches, along railroads, around shopping centers, in creeks and streams, and throughout wooded areas. Winter Wipeout is an opportunity for volunteers to help clean up areas when litter is much more visible and accessible.

2026 WINTER WIPEOUT (February 1-28)
Winter Wipeout will kick off on February 1st through the 28th, where volunteers can organize individual cleanups in areas where they see a need.

Throughout the month, volunteers will be provided with all necessary supplies, including gloves, bags, and tools to tackle litter and debris in our beloved outdoor spaces.

All community members, families, and local organizations are encouraged to participate. Not only will this event foster a sense of community spirit, but it will also inspire individuals to become stewards of our environment throughout the year.

Here’s how it works:
Get a small group of 15 or less.
Select a site to clean up from our online Litter Hot Spots map or suggest a cleanup site of your own.
Sign up and let us know when you plan to clean up your selected site between February 1-28.
Pick up your supplies at 2800 E. Gate City Blvd. in the vending machine area on the right side of the building. Supplies will be first come first served, but labeled in tubs for ease of pickup.
Take pictures before and after your cleanup and post them to Greensboro Beautiful’s Facebook or Instagram page. It’s a great way to show what a difference we can make!
Sort recyclables and dispose of collected litter with normal trash, or request disposal assistance by emailing specific location of bagged and collected items to Greensboro Beautiful. Styrofoam and glass recycling can be dropped off at Gateway Gardens or any of the many styrofoam locations throughout the city.
After your cleanup, complete this survey to let us know how many bags were collected, how many people participated, and how long it took to complete your cleanup.
Select a site to clean up from our online Litter Hot Spots map (or suggest a cleanup site of your own).
