TREE PLANTINGS
 |
Greensboro Beautiful’s tree planting
programs offer a number of opportunities for citizens to
play an active role in keeping the green in
Greensboro. These programs have played
a significant role in achieving and maintaining the
City of Greensboro’s Tree
City USA designation. Tree planting programs are
accomplished in partnership with the NC Cooperative
Extension Service and the City of Greensboro.
NeighborWoods Community Tree Plantings
|
|
| Greensboro Beautiful works
with the Greensboro Parks & Recreation Department
and the City
Arborist to plan and implement community tree
planting projects at select sites. Each year volunteers
gather to plant hundreds of trees—restoring
and enhancing our community’s urban forest.

|
The mission of the NeighborWoods program is to help reforest
Greensboro by planting trees in Neighborhoods with help
from its residents and other volunteers. Each year, neighborhood
associations wishing to have trees planted in their neighborhood
or community park may submit an application for the NeighborWoods
Program. An application can be obtained from the City
Arborist. The selected neighborhood works with the City
of Greensboro and Greensboro Beautiful staff to help choose
tree species for the planting and select a planting day.
The program provides trees and mulch and the neighborhood
is asked to take responsibility for planting, watering,
mulching, and maintaining the trees.
Trees for the NeighborWoods Community Tree Planting Program
will be funded through a combination of grant monies and
private donations to a “Tree Fund”. Tax-deductible
contributions may be made to this fund through Greensboro
Beautiful.
